Paid Still Runs In Evaluation Mode

Description
The paid version is installed, but the program still runs in lite or evaluation mode.

When you install the lite or evaluation version, and then install the paid version, files should get overwritten correctly. However, on some systems, when the user permissions are very restrictive, the files may not overwrite.

The issue is resolved by manually removing the lite or evaluation version and re-installing the paid copy.

Solution steps...
  • remove current installation using "Add-Remove Programs"
          - ex: "Schedule D Tax Manager"

  • manually delete application directory when it still exists
          - ex: C:\Program Files\SDTM\

  • search and delete all copies of main application file
          - ex: agg.mde, dtc.exe, sdtm.mde, sdtt.mde, sk.exe, tps.exe, urt.exe

  • manually delete application START menu group when it still exists
          - ex: "Schedule D Tax Manager"

  • run paid install EXE
  • launch from START menu


Notes
This issue can also occur when upgrading free products. For free products, use the same process as above, manually removing the old version and re-installing the upgrade.
